Finding the key and raiding the phone for 50ps and 20ps always seemed like a good idea until the time came to pay the bill.

5. People queued overnight for tickets for a gig
If you wanted to see Oasis in Pairc Uí Chaoimh you had to put in the hours.
(One exception to the rule: G*rth Br**ks. But it doesn’t get much more nineties than him)
6. You made a reverse charges call to be picked up from the bus

8. You would just knock in to someone
Now, if you show up unannounced it’s acceptable for the other person to just hide behind the curtains until you go away.
9. You wrote letters to someone in the Gaeltacht
Or wrote letters home, complaining.
10. You bought cigarettes for your parents in the shop
“Twenty Gold Bond please”
11. And vanished all day on your bike
From the age of eight or nine it was ok to to disappear for the day and come back for dinner.
12. You could ring someone you fancied and just hang up when they answered
No caller ID. No way of tracking you down.
