EVEN IF YOU go makeup free most days, chances are there’s at least one beauty product you’re never without.
Maybe you don’t leave the house without running something through your brows, or make sure to put on hand cream every night before bed. Still counts!
We asked four Irish bloggers and makeup artists to share the products that they reach for every day without fail.
Jen Morris (@toodollymakeup)
Vlogger Jen is a self-described skincare junkie (with gorgeous skin to prove it), so her go-to products are all about looking hydrated and smooth.
Dr Lipp’s Nipple Balm for Lips, €12.90
I know this sounds mad but it’s hands down the best lip balm I have ever used. I put on a thick layer before bed every night and when I wake up my lips are so hydrated. It’s great for people who wear matte lipstick or liquid lipsticks that can be really drying.
Lancome Génifique Youth Activating Second Skin Mask, €73 for a pack of six
I’ve gone through seven boxes of these! It instantly replenishes my skin with moisture, leaving it looking smoother and more radiant. I couldn’t live without these.
No7 Perfect Light Powder in Translucent, €14.50
I have been using this powder for over 3 years and haven’t found anything as good. It stands up to even the most expensive cult favourites on the market. It has light diffusing particles in it also, this makes it perfect for setting under the eyes as it will brighten. It won’t sit into any fine lines or wrinkles as it is so finely milled. It is definitely an all-rounder!
Dani Duffy (@therebellipstick)
Dani is a Mac makeup artist based in Dublin – and as a pale gal, she’s interested in protecting her skin from the sun’s rays (something we should all be doing, TBH).
Boots Soltan Once Facial SPF50, €9
This works as my moisturiser too and doesn’t leave a greasy residue like other sun creams I’ve tried. People always think I’m younger than I am and I totally contribute that to avoiding the sun since my goth days over ten years ago!
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, €27
This translucent powder is so finely milled and while I’ve never noticed a brightening effect on my pale skin, it sets my eye area like nothing else. There is never creasing under my eyes and it works as the perfect eyeshadow base, while never ever looking cakey, dry or powdery.
Mac Prep + Prime Lip, €17.50
It looks like a clear lip balm but a minute or so after application, gets tacky. Once you apply your lip colour on top, this primer grabs hold of it like Velcro and won’t let go. It’s magic!
Gemma (@beautynookie)
Beauty-obsessed Gemma always has a lip balm or four to hand – a girl after our own hearts.
Lip balm
I would be lost without a lip balm. There’s always one in my handbag, in the car and on my desk. In the evening right now, I’m using the Matis Lip Control (€42.80), which is very nice indeed! It makes your lips feel lovely plumped and hydrated.
Throughout the day then, I’ll usually have a Clarins Instant Lip Perfector (€20) to hand. I love how they smell and they give a really nice shine to the lips as well as keeping things moisturised.
L’Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist, €10.49
I actually asked my better half what beauty product he thinks I use every day and his response was setting spray! And he’s dead right! Honestly, I don’t know what I did before it’s invention. I have more oily skin so I will use anything that will help my makeup stay on a bit longer. My go to one at the minute is the L’Oréal Infallible Fixing Mist, it’s one of the best I’ve tried and it doesn’t break the bank either.
Penneys eyelash curlers
I have the straightest most boring lashes going, so they need all the help they can get. I am a big fan of the classic Shu Uemura one, but I am actually using a rose gold one I picked up from Penneys on a whim at the moment and it actually working really well for me!
Dry shampoo, in general
I barely get one day out of a hair wash before the oily roots appear, so I love dry shampoo for refreshing, but also for adding a bit of oomph to the roots too. I am a big fan of the Colab and Batiste ones as well as the more pricey Klorane and Oribe varieties. Just depends on the budget at the time.
Clíona Kelly (@peaches_og)
Clíona;s style and makeup skillz have earned her a huge following on Facebook and Instagram – one of her everyday essentials is a ‘beauty shot’. Colour us intrigued.
Image Skincare Yana Daily Collagen Shots, €99 per bottle
This is a concentrated daily beauty drink that strengthens the skin by boosting the body’s natural collagen production. I’ve really noticed a difference in my skin since using this product every day. each bottle contains a 30 day supply – I’m currently on my second bottle.
Nars Cosmetics Soft Matte Complete Concealer, €30
I only started using this recently but I LOVE it and it’s now my new favourite concealer! I use it mostly to conceal the eye area before applying shadow. It’s really creamy and doesn’t dry out the skin i.e. sink into fine lines and wrinkles highlighting them rather than camouflaging them. It’s also super long wearing!
Crownbrush 35 Colour Eyeshadow Palettes, €28.99 each
My go to palettes at the moment! I’m switching between the Rose Gold and Nude palettes. What I like about them is their affordability – both come in under €30 – and their versatility. I use them all over the face, not just on the eyes (brows, blush, contour and highlight). Both palettes also feature a mixture of matte and iridescent shades, whether you want to create a day time look/ night time look these palettes are a one-stop-shop product essentially!
Solid picks from all four. What are your go-to products? Tell us all in the comments!
