DID YOU KNOW there’s a referendum taking place on Friday? Well today seems to be the day for celebrities speaking out for a Yes vote in that referendum and we’re very much here for it.
Aisling Bea and Sharon Horgan lead the charge in a wonderful video which also includes Ed Byrne, Katherine Ryan, Jimmy Carr, Chris O’Dowd and Dawn O’Porter. Everyone in the video has some Irish connection and can no longer vote having been living out of Ireland for more than 18 months. Or as Aisling describes them ‘The Judasas’.
It has recently come to our attention that women are people too. This has shocked and appalled many, understandably.
Ain’t that the truth.
Comedian Gráinne Maguire who live tweeted Enda Kenny about her menstrual cycle while it was happening probably has the line of the whole thing though.
I never really believed that Irish women could be trusted with their bodies because I remember how crazy we went for line dancing in the 90s.
That’s fair to be honest.
It’s a wonderful video reminding that people that Irish women have raised them, educated them and shifted some of you to quote Jarlath Reagan. Jimmy Carr points out that his mother was the last Irish woman that he was inside which we hope she never hears.
The point is that none of these people have a say in what goes on in their ‘beloved country’ and they want us to be their yes instead which is a gesture I think we should all get behind.
As Aisling points out;
When you vote you get that same mad buzz as you do with confession but without the added shame. Please let Waterford Crystal and Tayto be Ireland’s biggest export, not women.
We all need a bit of a buzz don’t we? Voting is the best legal buzz you may ever get so make sure you get out there on Friday.
