Here’s how you do it:

  1. Clean out ashes and keep small bits of coal
  2. Put a circle of largish pieces of fresh coal in the grate.
  3. Put 4-6 firefighters in the circle towards the front – so you can light through the bars.
  4. Break up a briquette or 2 into small pieces and place on firelighters.
  5. Pile small bits of fresh and burned coal loosely on top. Put some firelighters beside the pile, add small bits of timber if available.
  6. Light from the front.

Jimi Kavanagh explained that the oldest in 23, but that didn’t stop him. Next he’ll be leaving step-by-step dishwasher instructions.
