UNTIL RECENTLY, THE copyright for Ireland’s national anthem was held by the Department of Finance, but in December 2012 it expired which leaves it open for widespread use and general mischief.

Yes, that’s right, it is open to be remixed, club schtyley.

We’ve done some preliminary research into what that might sound like. Here are three examples which indicate that it’s best if  the classics of Irish life are not brought up to date via the medium of dance music.

Versions of this song are ten a penny, but the dance remixes are frankly, abhorrent.
