IF THERE’S ONE thing we can all enjoy – no matter what your level of Irish – is a quality pun as Gaeilge.
Yesterday, the always excellent @TheIrishFor Twitter account was doling out one of its regular lessons in interesting wordplay when something rather brilliant happened:
One response came back with a delightful pun, and it started a ball rolling
Everyone else wanted to join in – and suddenly there was a Gaeilge pun session about prospective shop names that was just so good
The kind of spontaneous moment of wordplay you only dream of
^pitch both of these on Dragons’ Den immediately.
It got so popular that he put out a call on Twitter for more suggestions, and the Gaeilge business names kept coming.
All of these would be welcomed by the wider public, we can assure you of that
These are the kinds of ideas that could sustain pub-obsessed entrepreneurs for years to come
The momentum has continued today, with its popularity growing so much that @TheIrishFor created a Twitter Moment housing all the best ones
And suggestions started rolling from previous tweets
All ideas are welcome
And let’s not forget the ones that are already out there
You can read the full moment here. @Daracho, the man behind The Irish For account, tells DailyEdge.ie that he’s only delighted that his Twitter shoutout is inspiring such comedic brilliance.
Ar fheabhas.
