Irish stars to unite for terminally ill Pogues guitarist
MANY OF IRELAND’S best musicians and writers, including Shane MacGowan, Declan O’Rourke, Aidan Gillen and Roddy Doyle, are coming together for a testimonial concert to pay tribute to The Pogues and Radiators from Space guitarist Philip Chevron.
Last month he announced that, sadly, the cancer he has been battling since 2007 is now incurable.
Many of his well-known friends will take part in this special gig to honour him on 24 August at the Olympia Theatre. Other musicians who will be performing include Horslips, Paul Brady and Duke Special, while the likes of Fiona Shaw and Joseph O’Connor will also be in attendance.
The all-star cast will perform a few numbers from Chevron’s songbook along with much of their own work.
Tickets cost €30 and can be bought here. You can check out the Olympia website for more details.
