A GROUP of Irish students have this morning set a new Guinness World Record for the longest time set on a big wheel.
The new record – of 24 hours and 30 minutes – beat the previous record by 22 minutes.
The marathon trip – on The Revolver at the Point Village in Dublin’s Docklands – came to an end at 10:30am this morning.
The students were accompanied by a number of other figures, including RTÉ broadcaster Brenda Donohue and a ‘laughter pod’ of comedians Andrew Stanley, Eric Lalor, Willie White, Gar Murran and Steve Cummins.
The event was observed by officials from Guinness World Records who certified the effort to be the longest time spent by any group on a ferris wheel.
The charity event was to raise funds for the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust.
