Sudo-cremm.

Would you be well?

The correct pronunciation has been the source of much conflict and strife over the years.

There are some people who believe it’s a cardinal sin to pronounce it as “Sudocream”.

While others wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s be real about it, though — Irish people are never going to pronounce Sudocrem as “Sudocremm”. To do so would be blasphemous and a display of notions of the highest order.

Imagine what would happen if you walked into a chemist and asked for Sudocremm.

  • - “Can I have some Sudocrem?”
  • - “What’s this Sudocremm you speak of? A French dessert made with macaroons? An expensive perfume?”

See? Notions.

Plus Sudocrem is technically just a tub of cream. It makes perfect sense to call it Sudocream.

Sure, it might not technically be correct, but not everything in this crazy world makes sense, you know?

Unless you are an RTÉ continuity announcer and also pronounce “issues” as “iss-yews,” there is absolutely no reason to call Sudocrem “Sudocremm”.

How do you pronounce Sudocrem?
