Irish teen series recognised with international award
AN IRISH TV SHOW FOR teenagers has been recognised with the Best Teen TV Movie Award at the Kidscreen Awards in New York.
Aisling’s Summer Diary, a 15-minute per episode production which originally aired on RTÉ in January 2010, followed the successful TV series Aisling’s Diary.
The series has also been broadcast in Australia and Sweden.
The Aisling series producer Triona Campbell said it had become Ireland’s most successful Irish teen TV series and has collected “an impressive list” of nominations and awards.
“The award really proves that Ireland can and is producing world class kids’ TV programming and that’s something we plan on doing more of in 2011″, she said.
Enterprise Ireland’s head of software and digital media Jennifer Condon said the Kidscreen Award was a “significant accolade” for Dublin-based production company CR Entertainment which would “further enhance Ireland’s growing global reputation for world-class digital media”.
