Here's how Jack White earned some major kudos during his Dublin gig
JACK WHITE PLAYED Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham with The Kills. The White Stripes frontman bashed through an epic set of 25 songs, and didn’t let the small matter of electricity stop him.
During the encore, just as he launched into Goodnight Irene, the plug was pulled due to curfew. The outrage. Rules, in rock and roll?
Well, he kept going like a trooper with an acoustic set, asking Ireland to join in with him.
And they did, they sung. (Start about 4 minutes in)
Now? He’s a hero, with the likes of Rolling Stone, Spin and Esquire singing his praises, and dissing the Royal Hospital for daring to attempt to stop him in his tracks. It’s not quite as bad as James Corden vs Adele, but it’s up there.
But it was the fans he won kudos with the most, of course.
