CORK IS A TREASURE trove of chipper delicacies. There’s the breast in a bun from Hillbilly’s, the King Creole from KC’s, and the Sloppy Foley from Murphy’s.
But there’s still more where those came from – and it’s time to shine a light on the potato pie.
It’s not a pie as we know it, so much as a ball of battered mashed potato similar enough to Tipperary’s ‘spud ball’ – and no one does it better than Jackie Lennox’s on the Bandon Road.
Their delectable cheese and onion pie has a particularly rabid following.
Just look at all that batter
They’re the perfect accompaniment to fish
Or just with chips, for maximum carby goodness
Just don’t forget the sauce
A cheese and onion pie never lets you down
And people would do just about anything for them
We’re not surprised, TBH.
