IT WAS HEARTBREAK in Dublin last night after Ireland went down to a disastrous 5-1 loss to Denmark at the Aviva Stadium.
Despite taking an early lead, Ireland were systematically undone and it was pretty painful to watch with World Cup qualification on the line.
One man who always wears his heart on his sleeve is James McClean – so when he was drafted in to speak live on RTÉ after the game you knew it was going to be emotional
Visibly upset, McClean tried to get out some thoughts on the performance:
“I don’t know what to say, we shot ourselves, you know what I mean, we got a great start and then we…”
“Ah Tony, I don’t know what to say”
“I am just devastated, not just for us, but for everyone, it’s been a long campaign, but we just let ourselves down”
RTÉ immediately shared the clip on Twitter and Facebook, and everyone got pretty emotional watching it
It was a tough watch after an even tougher loss
Heartbreaking stuff all round.
