Miss America pageant doesn't know how to spell 'Jane Austen'
OH MISS AMERICA Pageant. Oh dear.
Let’s take a closer look at that…
Come again?
That’s what we thought you said.
Kira Kazantev – seen here singing a ‘cups’ version of Pharrell Williams’ song Happy – may have gone on to win the Miss America Pageant, broadcast on ABC in the US last night, but she’s probably going to be remembered for this unfortunate literary typo.
It’s all anyone can talk about.
Miss New York is the third consecutive lovely girl from the Big Apple state to walk away with the title. She’s also landed herself a $50,000 scholarship.
*cough… might be better off giving it to whoever was responsible for typing out the fun facts for the telly… cough*
Time has kindly suggested that maybe the typo was intentional, referring not to the author Jane Austen but to the author Jane Goodwin Austin.
Hmmm
