WHEN PIERS MORGAN calls you out for being a ‘sexist pig’ on live television, you know you’ve definitely gone above and beyond making a holy show of yourself.

With that in mind, step forward Jason Cundy.

While appearing on Good Morning Britain yesterday, the former English footballer revealed that he’d rather listen to a male commentator critique a football match over a female commentator.

And why is that?

Well, it all comes down to ‘pitch’ issues, and not the one the lads are playing on.

Take it away there, Jason.

It’s nothing to do with her insight, the way she delivers or her knowledge, or her ability to do the job, it’s the voice. For 90 minutes I would prefer to listen to a male voice. It’s like, would you rather listen to Ed Sheeran or Celine Dion?

So, she may be the best person for the job, but Jason’s ears just can’t handle the female voice?

Naturally, 48-year-old Jason, who works as a radio broadcaster, was in for a world of pain from viewers, who couldn’t make head nor tail of his argument.

And in the wake of the controversy during an interview on talkSPORT, the broadcaster saw fit to apologise for his remarks, which he puts down to ‘being an idiot’.

I want to sincerely apologise for the comments I made on Good Morning Britain this morning. I came away realising how foolish and out of order they were and how I deserved the backlash I received.

Not only does he think he’s a right eejit altogether, he also realised that many GMB viewers did as well.

There are times we have to hold up your hands and admit you are wrong and have been an idiot. Today was one of those days and I have to hold my hands up. I regret my comments and the hurt and anger that it’s caused. I realise there is no place for demeaning attributes towards female commentators and for that I am truly sorry.
