MUSIC MEGASTARS JAY Z and Kanye West are ‘doing their part for austerity’ and are offering cut price tickets for their Watch the Throne show in the O2 this Saturday.

Students and the unwaged are being given the chance to purchase cash-only tickets at Ticketmaster outlets for €49.50 without incurring any additional charges, but must show the necessary student or unwaged ID.

Tickets for Friday’s show are sold out, but are still available for sale for Saturday’s show with the highest prices at €79.50 before booking fees.

There are currently tickets for sale for Saturday on the Ticketmaster site for €49.50, but these are for tiered seating only. It’s not yet clear if the cut price tickets will give fans a chance to gain entry to the standing area of the arena. The cheapest tickets which were available for Friday night’s concert were €69.50, indicating that this new price of €49.50 represents a €20 discount.

MCD said that Jay Z and Kanye West feel that Irish fans have “always been great supporters of their music over the years” and said that they’re hoping to accommodate fans who otherwise may not have been able to attend Saturday’s show.
