IT PROBABLY SAYS a lot about where we are in 2017 that the most anticipated act at this year’s Glastonbury wasn’t Radiohead, Lorde or Foo Fighters but Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.
And this afternoon he took to the Pyramid Stage to give a 15 minute speech to a rapturous crowd.
But not before he pulled some pints at the festival
“Beers for the many.”
And hung out at the bar for a while
The speech itself started to the backdrop of the “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” chant
Hundreds of thousands of people came out for his speech, and the Kaiser Chiefs suspended their set on another stage until he was finished
It was quite an unprecedented turnout at a music festival for a modern day political leader
And there were some good jokes doing the rounds
It was hard not to think Corbyn speaking on the Pyramid Stage was a historic moment in Glastonbury’s history
And he pulled a surprising quote out of the bag at the end – but one that alluded to his campaign slogan throughout the election
What a surreal afternoon at Glasto.
