With that in mind, credit where credit’s due to Jimmy Fallon, who performed Fairytale of New York this week in an accent not wholly dissimilar to the man who made it famous, Shane McGowan.

Appearing on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon in recent days, Saoirse Ronan joined the host in performing a track that has been known to bring a tear to a glass eye over many a festive season.
