JK Simmons' Oscars speech will make you call your mam today

TERRIFYING WHIPLASH STAR JK Simmons picked up the first Academy Award of the night at last night’s Oscars ceremony.

His performance as the intense jazz conductor is one of the year’s most memorable, and he’s ensured that his Oscar win is memorable too.

He paid tribute in his acceptance speech, as he has in previous awards shows this season, to his wonderful wife and ”above average children”.

He also beseeched those in the audience and those watching not to take their parents for granted and asked them to give them a call.
