COMEDIANS AND OTHER celebrities have taken to Twitter to voice their prayers for Joan Rivers, after reports emerged that she is on life support.

Rivers was rushed to hospital last week after she stopped breathing during an operation on her vocal cords at a clinic on New York’s Upper East Side.

She was said to be in a stable condition at the time.

However, TMZ reported last night that the comedian is on life support and “completely reliant on machines to stay alive”.

The news sparked an outpouring of well-wishes on Twitter from Rivers’ fellow celebrities and TV personalities.

Rivers’ daughter Melissa flew to New York in the wake of the medical emergency and issued a statement to media shortly afterwards.

She is currently staying at an Upper East Side apartment so she can be close to her mother’s bedside, the New York Daily News reports.
