Maurice Fitzpatrick’s new documentary, which tells the story of Derry-born politician, John Hume, and his pivotal role in the Northern Irish peace process, struck a chord with viewers the length and breadth of the country last night.
Hume, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize alongside David Trimble in 1998, is widely considered one of the most important figures in Anglo-Irish relations, and the impact of his political endeavours was celebrated on Twitter in the hours that followed the documentary’s broadcast.
