John Legend has made history by becoming the first black man to achieve EGOT status
MOST PERFORMERS CAN only dream of achieving the EGOT status – the term used to describe anyone who has earned an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award.
But last night, John Legend did just that.

Making history in more ways than one, John became the first black man and the youngest person to earn the title after winning an award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmys.
Taking to Instagram to share a photo of himself with Jesus Christ Superstar producers Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, John expressed his delight over the win.

In a poignant post which has amassed more than 195,000 likes, he shared his gratitude, writing: “So amazed to be in such rarified air.”
The 39-year-old added:
John’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, paid tribute to her husband’s incredible achievement on Instagram, sharing a video of John placing the award alongside his other accolades.
