WE’RE ON THE cusp of the most Irish Oscars ever (hiya Saoirse, Lenny, Emma, Benjamin and co) but today we’re looking back on one of the nicest moments of recent years.
Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova nabbed the Best Original Song Oscar for Falling Slowly from Once in 2008, in a hugely popular win for the Irish film which had been a huge (and surprising) hit.
Hansard and Irglova were so genuinely shocked that they won the whole crowd over, and when Marketa was cut off before she got to say her thanks, host Jon Stewart stepped in…
