'Are you the fat guy in Hollywood still?': This excruciating old interview with Jonah Hill is going viral

18 seconds of pure awkward.

AS HOLLYWOOD A-LISTERS go, Jonah Hill has more than his fair share of awkward interviews – but this one that has been everywhere on Twitter over the last 24 hours is probably the worst of them all, and it’s nothing to do with Jonah.

The original interview took place back in 2011, as Jonah was doing a round of interviews around the time Moneyball was released. He was sitting in The J Spot comedy club in LA when an interviewer asked whether he’s “still considered the fat guy” since his much-publicised weight loss.

And instead of leaving it at that one rude question, he continued to try to talk his way out of it

The clip only lasts for 18 seconds but it feels like a lifetime. And it got worse and worse as it went on:

Are you still considered ‘the fat guy’? When you go to a party or anything. Because I run into that a whole lot. I’m ‘the fat one.’ Are you ‘the fat guy’ in Hollywood still or does everybody, like, look at you and they’re like, ‘Oh wow, this is great and now you’re healthy’

Jonah, visibly annoyed throughout, simply turns to the other reporters and replies:

Do you have any other questions that are smart?

It was rediscovered by Twitter user @gyllenhaaaal yesterday and it’s already racked up nearly 50,000 retweets.

The general consensus is that the question – and rambling statement – was way out of line

And his response was spot on for the situation

No wonder he’s not the biggest fan of doing media appearances.
