Jordan hires SF councillor as bouncer for Irish visit
GLAMOUR MODEL KATIE PRICE was in Dublin today to launch her latest fragrance – with a Sinn Féin councillor and former IRA member as her private bodyguard.
Price – also known as Jordan – had travelled to Ireland yesterday as part of her promotion tour for ‘Precious Love’, her second fragrance after last year’s release of ’Besotted’.
She was accompanied on the Belfast stretch by Brendan Curran, a Sinn Féin member of Newry & Mourne District Council since 1985, who runs his own private security and event management firm – and who stood in a plain black suit while the model broke out a fluffy white fur waistcoast and pint t-shirt.
The Irish News quotes Curran as admitting his role was “very interesting”, saying his company did “event security – front and backstage events.
“We’re kept very busy. We are involved in close protection, bodyguarding, like what were doing today – close protection for Katie Price.”
Curran told the paper he had joined the republican movement at 15, before being jailed at 17 for membership of the IRA. He had spent some time at the Maze prison before his release in 1980.
Curran said his company – Pro-Tec Safe Door and Event Management – was also “on our way to Dublin where Katie is going RTÉ and then events tomorrow.”
The day in Belfast was not without its troubles, the Irish News adds – some fans were turned away after they were told they could not meet Price without first buying a bottle of the £19.50 fragrance.
