Sadness, in Greenpoint. mariskreizman mariskreizman

EARLIER THIS WEEK, a man circulated a heartbreaking image around Brooklyn begging for help.

The man had accidentally given away his wife’s copy of the beloved Judy Blume classic, Are You There, God? It’s Me Margaret and was pleading with whoever bought it to get in touch.

I accidentally gave this book away on Saturday July 25th in a box on the corner of Green and Franklin streets in Greenpoint. The book is extremely important to my wife. It was a keepsake from her mother and is irreplaceable. If you happened to pick up this book can you please get in touch with me.

The poster then made its way to Instagram and the story was picked up on by New York media.

On Thurday night, Judy Blume caught wind of the situation and pledged to help.

And she was persistent!

Finally, the husband behind the mishap stepped forward and identified himself.

He thanked Blume for the kind gesture and even credited her with saving his marriage.

And Blume tweeted back to say that she was “on the case”.

For his part, Lasek has since changed his Twitter bio to “Don’t ever clean your apartment”.

Wise words.
