Julia Roberts sent Ryan Tubridy her autograph and a signed letter for some reason... it's The Dredge
EVERY WEEKDAY MORNING, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the best of the day’s celebrity dirt from the top to the very bottom.
Yesterday morning, Ryan Tubridy received an interesting letter in the post. Apparently apropos of nothing, he was sent Julia Roberts’ autograph.
Yes, Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman and Erin Brokovich reached out to Ryan Tubridy via her personal assistant and sent him an autographed photo of herself reading, “To Ryan, Love Julia”.
He shared the image on Instagram and wrote, “Julia’s assistant is Irish and arranged for this to land on my desk this morning…”
But… why?
A quick Google search doesn’t turn up any obvious connections between Julia and Tubs, and it doesn’t appear that he has mentioned her in interviews before. He indicated on his show yesterday that he didn’t know whether someone was taking the mick out of him or whether it was genuine.
He took to Instagram last night to share the accompanying letter which opens with, “Hi Ryan, It’s Julia Roberts!” (Great intro.)
In the letter, she cites his apparent fondness for Eat, Pray Love — first we’ve heard about that — and thanks him for his support.
Tubs included the hashtag #curiouserandcuriouser on the photo implying that he’s as perplexed as we are.
Can we expect Julia on The Late Late Show soon then? Only time will tell.
Zayn Malik has defended his girlfriend Gigi Hadid after she was accused of being ‘racist’. Hadid was accused of mocking Asians in an Instagram video, which featured her impersonating a Buddha statue.
Let’s just say it was pretty unfortunate.
(If you can’t see the video, please click here.)
A fan reached out to Zayn Malik, who is of South Asian descent, to see what he made of the whole thing. His response?
He later lashed out at people calling him “ignorant” and pointed out that he has been subject to racist commentary in the past.
Fresh from headlining the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, Lady Gaga has taken to Instagram to address bodyshamers who said she had a “pot belly”. (We don’t know either.)
She wrote, “I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too.”
Good woman, Gaga.
And the rest of the day’s filth…
