Julianne Moore to play Sarah Palin in new HBO film

Game Change to tell the story of the 2008 presidential election – but can Oscar-winner Moore follow in the footsteps of Tina Fey?

OSCAR-NOMINATED ACTRESS Julianne Moore will portray former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin in a new film about the 2008 presidential election.

Game Change, based on the book of the same name, will tell the story of Senator John McCain’s run for the White House when Palin was his vice-presidential running mate.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film is set to be directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong, who previously teamed up with HBO to make Recount, an election drama focusing on the 2000 presidential race eventually won by George Bush in controversial circumstances.

Moore was nominated for an Oscar this year for her role as a lesbian mother in The Kids are All Right. The role of Palin could be a tough one to take on, given that Tina Fey’s Saturday Night Live impression of the Republican was so hilarious and so… uncanny.
