AFTER PUTTING ASIDE their beef five years ago, Jimmy Kimmel and Kanye West were reunited when Ye made an appearance last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Jimmy Kimmel was expecting a quiet interview with the self-proclaimed genius…
The most memorable part of the interview, which has become a major talking point today, was an exchange that Jimmy and Kanye had about the musician’s support of President Trump.
One of the things that I think got missed on [my appearance on] TMZ is that the main thing that I was stressing was the idea of trying love. Yano, we’re always pushing out so much hate, and love can cure so much. Just to think, am I moving in love? Is this out of love? Not out of pride…
Kanye indicated that America’s current political issues could be solved if we, as a society, ‘tried love’ and hugged President Trump.
And when I see people just even like go at the president..it’s like why not try love? For one person to stand up against all odds and just hug somebody…that one by one by one, we can diffuse this nuclear bomb of hate that we’re in as a society by thinking of everyone as our family, and how will we treat our kids…
I’m all for being treated as part of Kanye’s family. Can I request my student loans be paid off?
Jimmy had to interrupt Kanye’s free love monologue with some #facts:
I think that’s a beautiful thought but just in literal terms, there are families being torn apart at the border of this country, there are literally families being torn apart as a result of what this President is doing. And I think we cannot forget that.
Referring back to Kanye’s 2005 claim about the Bush Administration after their famously slow response in helping victims of Hurricane Katrina, Jimmy asked:
Whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter. You so famously and so powerfully said ‘George Bush doesn’t care about black people.’ It makes me wonder, what makes you think that Donald Trump does?
The usually verbose Kanye was stunned into silence.

Jimmy had to cut to a break after the silence was becoming defeaning.

Kanye in the past has said that Trump and himself both have ‘dragon energy’.
You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.

Kanye must be missing Game of Thrones like the rest of us…
