Karaoke kings and queens called to Kerry
PUB SINGERS, HAIRBRUSH-WIELDING divas: Your country needs you. Right now.
The World Karaoke Championships 2011 are taking place in Killarney’s INEC tonight, tomorrow and Saturday. It’s the ninth year of the contest – last year’s was held in Moscow and the previous one in Lahti, Finland. We just want to see the interval acts - this year’s line-up includes Liam O’Connor (“fastest fingers in the world” – Guinness Book of Records 2008), Halo (“one of Ireland’s hottest girl bands”) and the Lizards of Oz.
According to Paddy Power, one of the sponsors, Ireland has a stab at winning. Carl Malone and Paul Blake were in second and fourth place respectively in the odds (at 7/2 and 4/1) yesterday while Laura Lenihan has an 8/1 chance of taking home the female singer prize, and Sharon Webb is at 12/1.
What would be your winning karaoke turn? Tell us in the comments below.
