Kate Moss parts from Topshop
SUPERMODEL KATE MOSS HAS designed her last regular range for popular UK high street chain, Topshop.
The autumn/winter 2010 collection by Moss is her 14th for the company, and she may design some one-off ranges in the future. The four-year deal is believed to have earned the model over £3m.
Moss has fared better with her Topshop line than some other celebs who have dabbled in design.
Fashion fail
Lyndsay Lohan’s collection for Emanuel Ungaro completely bombed with fashion critics after hitting the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week in 2009.
Ungaro’s designer Esteban Cortezar quit in protest at Lohan’s appointment as the Paris fashion house’s new artistic adviser, and the actress had less than a month to get her collection together.
The LA Times review of Lohan’s collection summed up the critics’ response:
Ouch. Just two months later, the man who hired Lohan, Ungaro president Mounir Moufarrige, quit.
The critics may have been kinder to Bono’s wife, Ali Hewson, but sales have been equally disastrous.
Just over a week ago, the Irish Times reported that losses at Hewson’s Fairtrade clothing range, Edun, had jumped a colossal 90% to over $8.5m.
Victoria Beckham has been enjoying rave reviews of her clothing line, but the verdict for her latest design role has yet to be decided.
Posh Spice was appointed a ‘creative design executive’ at Range Rover in July, and the resulting vehicle is due to go on sale next summer priced between £30,000 and £45,000.
