Keelin Shanley had an Aengus Mac Grianna moment when she was caught fixing herself on last night's news
IF THERE’S ONE thing we all love, it’s the pleasant surprise of a gas blooper in the middle of RTÉ’s Six One News.
Just think about it. You’re sat in your living room, with a tray on your lap eating your dinner, listening to a vaguely interesting current event and then BAM! There’s someone shouting or doing something weird in the background of a live correspondent’s footage, or one of RTÉ’s newsreaders is reapplying their makeup. It’s strangely exciting.
It has happened many times before.
At the start of the year, we were blessed with two such instances in one week. First, some guy wrapped himself up in an American flag in the background of a report Teresa Mannion was doing on the weather. Then, a week later, the screen behind the newsreader’s desk was showing a staff member browsing Apple TV.
The latest incident occurred on last night’s Six One, where a segment featuring Mary Lou McDonald at Sinn Fein’s Ard Fheis ended just a little bit sooner than Keelin Shanley expected. As a result, she was accidentally filmed fixing her dress in a pretty hilarious manner.

A couple of people watching the news at home spotted the slip-up and shared it to Twitter.
