KENDALL JENNER HAS used her Twitter page to respond to the backlash she received in the wake of an interview with Love Magazine, but whether it will get her off the hook with a gaggle of furious models remains to be seen.
In a move which hasn’t endeared her to those within the fashion industry, the 22-year-old said she was ‘super selective’ when choosing which shows to take part in, implying that she was, perhaps, above doggedly pursuing gigs.
Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do, like, 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do. More power to ’em.
And sure, all hell broke loose, didn’t it?
In no time at all, Kendall’s Victoria’s Secret peers responded to the comments, reminding the public that not everyone within the industry comes from a privileged background and is in a position to choose which show to take part in.
Laying down the law on Instagram, Dario Strokous, among others sharing the same sentiments, said:
‘Whatever the f*ck those girls do’ is do their very best to make their way up AND try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families.
And Kendall is now in an absolute ball over the way everyone is kicking off.
Realising she may be eating alone at her next runway show, she beat a hasty path to Twitter to insist that her words had been taken out of context.
Yep, that old chestnut, but sure we’ll say no more about it, and let Kendall take it from here.
I was misrepresented in a recent interview over the wknd & it’s important to clarify the meaning. It was intended to be entirely complimentary but unfortunately, my words were twisted & taken out of context.I want to be clear. The respect that I have for my peers is immeasurable! (sic)
Insisting that she was, in fact, in awe of these women, she added:
I get to experience first hand their tireless commitment, their work ethic, the endless days, the lack of sleep, separation from family and friends, stress of traveling, the toll on physical and mental health, yet they still make it all look effortless and beautiful.
