KESHA IS RELEASING a documentary about the making of her latest album next month.
The trailer for Rainbow – The Film has been released by Apple Music, from which the documentary will be available to view from 10 August.
The trailer features voice overs by Kesha and a variety of shots, including her Grammy rendition of her comeback single ‘Praying’.
Opening the trailer, Kesha says:
Sometimes things feel like they’re too much to handle. You may be able to pull it together and put on a front in front of others.
But inside you’re trapped, suffocating slowly.”
Rainbow, Kesha’s third studio album, was released in August of last year. It was her first album release since her legal battles with producer Dr Luke, where she accused him of abusing her sexually and emotionally during their professional relationship.
The trailer hints at her legal battles with Dr Luke and her record label, under which Rainbow was released due to contractual obligation.
Making Rainbow the album was such a therapeutic process and given the opportunity to turn it into a three-dimensional piece of art has helped me find even deeper healing and catharsis.
I hope this film inspires others to never give up even if you feel full of hurt or lost, because after the storm comes a rainbow. Depression, anxiety and mental illness are things we all need to talk about more, and there is no shame in asking for help. Making the decision to work on yourself is the bravest thing you can do. I hope this film helps bring light and love to everyone.”
