KIM CATTRALL AND Sarah Jessica Parker’s feud rages on.
Earlier this week, Kim confirmed the tragic death of her brother Chris. Chris had gone missing and was later found dead. She wrote:
It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall. At this time we ask for privacy but we want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time.
Many, including Sarah Jessica Parker sent their condolences to the actress. SJP wrote:
Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx
This comment was not welcomed by the Cattrall family. Kim wrote on Instagram that her mother asked “When will that Sarah Jessica Parker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?” Before expressing her own frustration at the comment.
Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting out tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.
Cattrall then shared a link to an article by the New York Post which looks at the history of the tensions between the two women. A clique formed in the early days of Sex and the City, between Sarah Jessica Parker who played Carrie, Cynthia Nixon who played Miranda and Kristin Davis who played Charlotte.
During shooting, SJP, Cynthia and Kristin rented and lived in a property together, while Kim was left on her own. Things got so bad towards the end of the series that nobody would talk to Kim, “not even in the makeup room”, according to an insider.
Kim Cattrall was understandably reluctant to take part in the Sex and the City movie, but eventually agreed. Kim’s friend commented “Kim does not want to do the film. She feels she has been treated horribly by Sarah Jessica Parker for six years.”
The eventual success of the movie, created an appetite for a second movie. Once again, Kim was not as eager to take part as the rest of the women, and negotiated a suitable salary for her troubles. Media treated Cattrall like a demanding diva, and suggested that she was deliberately being awkward.
Even late last year, when news emerged that there would not be a third SATC movie, Sarah Jessica Parker made a public statement about her disappointment, despite the fact that Cattrall had made it very clear in 2016 that she’d never take part in a SATC movie again.
