THIS WEEK, KIM Kardashian announced she would be releasing a new collection as part of her KKW Beauty line.
The Cherry Blossom collection is inspired by her love of the “pink-coloured trees” (give that PR person a raise, Kim!) and features loads of pink-hued products, including a 10-pan eyeshadow palette.
Here’s what the palette and the rest of the range looks like …
The Cherry Blossom Bundles comes in at $260 and includes the Cherry Blossom Palette, three blushes, eight pink crème lipsticks, and three pink lip liners.
Nice right? Except, some people couldn’t help but feel like the products bore a striking resemblance to an earlier release …
… That release being the Urban Decay Naked Cherry collection.
Comparing the two palettes, they have about six or seven shades in common. With the lipsticks, it looks as though Kim hasn’t opted for any metallic options à la Urban Decay. The same goes for the pencils.
If you’re considering purchasing either, Naked Cherry may be more bang for your buck – otherwise, the product selection is pretty different.
Could Kim have copied UD? I mean, who’s really to say? Given that UD only confirmed that the Urban Decay Naked Cherry collection was going to an official launch a week ago, that didn’t give Kim much time for a turnaround.
Also, it’s fairly safe to say that these warm-toned, pink hued palettes are all the rage this weather, given the popularity of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette, the bPerfect x Stacey Marie Carnival palette, among others. It’s plausible that Kim took a not-so-original concept and ran with it.
But more importantly – which collection would tempt you to part with your money?
