SO KIM KARDASHIAN had a meeting with Donald Trump to discuss prison reform last night. Before you ask why on earth Kim Kardashian was talking about prison reform, she’s been speaking about this for a while.

Kim has been trying to get Alice Marie Johnson pardoned. Ms. Johnson has served 20 years for drug possession. She was a first time offender and is a non violent prisoner. She’s become an ordained minister during his time in prison.

Shortly before his term ended as President, Barack Obama granted clemency to 231 people who had been in prison for drug crimes. Ms. Johnson’s crime met the criteria for clemency but she wasn’t granted it. She made a video about her time in prison which Kim Kardashian saw and shared back in 2017 tweeting ‘This is so unfair’.

Since then Kim’s been working on this case by getting her personal lawyer on the case. She’s spoken to the President’s son in law Jared Kuschner about the case and ultimately that’s how she ended up in a meeting with Donald Trump yesterday.

She tweeted about the meeting last night thanking Trump for giving her a meeting and said she was ‘optimistic’ about Ms. Johnson’s future.

I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.

We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she —and so many like her—will get a second chance at life.

Regardless of how you feel about Kim Kardashian, using her platform in an attempt to do some good is a great thing. Yes Donald Trump is hungry for attention but she can’t help who is in charge of the United States at the current time.

Whether it makes any difference remains to be seen but it good to see a celebrity with a platform the size of Kim Kardashian trying to make a difference.
