A YOUNG MOTHER of four is going viral after sharing a picture of her ‘mummy tummy’ to help other mums accept their bodies post-pregnancy.
Kimberly Henderson, a musician from South Carolina, said she struggled for a long time to accept the loose skin and stretch marks on her belly:
Everyone always compliments me on how I have such a ‘perfect’ body after four kids. I decided to upload this picture and leave my belly unedited and unphotoshopped, because I used to struggle with accepting my body after kids.
“I used to have a six pack before my babies, and now even though I work out it’s not going to make my loose skin tight or my strech marks disappear,” she said.
“I’m OK with that because every day I get to wake up to four beautiful smiling faces and I’m reminded that they’re worth these stretch marks.”
Just reminding you guys that your body is beautiful, because we are moms, and we are superheroes, and we freaking rock, and in my opinion that’s sexier than any six pack.
Henderson’s post has amassed thousands of likes and shares on Facebook, and women have joined her in sharing their own body woes post-pregnancy.
The musician has said that the response to her photo has been “inspiring”, but is quick to point out that she doesn’t want to “discredit” mothers who have six packs.
“All I was saying is that it IS sexy to be confident in your skin. Be proud of the body you carried your beautiful babies in,” she said.
