EARLIER TODAY, THE New York Times reported that David Wildstein, a former colleague of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, was to plead guilty in a saga known as “bridgegate”.
Unfortunately, the wording of the headline brought to mind a certain Kirstie Alley…
As people continued to confuse Kirstie Alley for this “Christie Ally,” an intrepid Twitter user mocked up a New York Times article featuring the headline accompanied by a photo of the former Cheers star.
It was shared hundreds of times.
:O
Sick of being inadvertently implicated in a scandal she had nothing to do with, poor old Kirstie Alley then had to publicly beg The New York Times to amend their headline.
Which they eventually did.
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
They even issued a tongue-in-cheek clarification confirming that the actress was not involved in the scandal.
