LAST NIGHT, KODALINE played an intimate gig in the Dublin’s Jameson Distillery and tonight they do it all again with a special gig in The Academy as part of the Jameson Bow St. Sessions. (Tickets have all been allocated, soz.)
We chatted to Kodaline’s Steve Garrigan as the band made their way to sound check tonight’s gig and asked him about his absolute favourite places in Dublin…
His favourite places to eat…
He’s got love for Malahide joint Kajjal as well as casual city centre haunts Jo’Burger and Crackbird.
His favourite place for a fancy bite…
That would be Michelin Star restaurant Chapter One on Parnell Square. Fancy indeed.
If I’m going super, super fancy, I’d probably go for Chapter One. But only on extremely special occasions.
His favourite spot for a chipper feed.
Leo Burdock’s, hands down.
A city institution. Can’t disagree with him there.
His favourite place for a drink in Dublin City
Garrigan has a lot of love for Mexican-inspired bar Xico on Baggot Street. “I went for the first time about a month ago and it had a great vibe,” he told us.
Now we’re in the mood for a margarita.
His favourite place for a tipple when he’s back home in Swords
According to Garrigan, it’s a toss-up between The Old School House (“That’s my local”) and Peacocks Lounge & Bar, formerly known as The Millennium, in Rivervalley, Swords.
Usually around this time of year, I’d be there in The Millennium watching Cheltenham and having a pint.
You can take the lad out of Swords…
His favourite spot for a gig
That would be none other than the Ruby Sessions in Doyle’s, a weekly acoustic music club that has hosted the likes of Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Sons, The Corrs and, of course, Kodaline.
I absolutely love Ruby Sessions in Doyle’s. Everybody listens to the music. It’s acoustic. I just love it.
And finally, his one recommendation for people visiting Dublin?
The Guinness Storehouse.
Just ’cause the view from the Gravity Bar is amazing.
Ain’t it just?
