KRISTEN STEWART’S relationship with Alicia Cargile was confirmed yesterday, after her mother spoke to a reporter about it.

Jules Stewart told the Sunday Mirror that the couple are “very happy”, adding that Alicia – Kristen’s personal assistant – is a “lovely girl”. She said:

I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s OK to be who you are in my world. We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers.

The couple’s relationship has been the subject of media speculation for months, with Cargile repeatedly described as Stewart’s ‘gal pal’.

And now that the news is out, people on social media are being pretty unsparing.

The term ‘gal pal’ came in for particular mockery.

There are also complaints that Stewart is being widely described as a lesbian – despite the fact that her mother described her as loving women and men.
