KYLIE JENNER’S MAKEUP range is hugely popular, with new products selling out mere seconds after they’re released on her website.
But this might throw a spanner in the works – the reality TV star has been accused of ripping off another makeup artist not once, but twice.
In December of last year, Kylie posted this photo to her Instagram account, leading people to speculate that she was releasing a metallic lipstick.
The image actually belonged to Los Angeles-based makeup artist Vlada Haggerty, who was using it to promote her own products, and had nothing to do with Kylie Cosmetics.
Nevertheless, the picture was picked up by several beauty websites as an example of Kylie’s metallic lipsticks, with Vlada despairing over not being credited properly:
At the time, Vlada told Refinery 29 that no one from Kylie’s team had ever contacted her asking to use the photo, or when she complained about the lack of credit:
Crediting artists is essential, but this goes beyond that. It’s theft. This is our livelihood… I would ask anyone at this level to use proper channels to obtain images.
The photo was deleted from Kylie’s Instagram a few hours later, but the saga didn’t end there.
Last night, this striking image of Kylie’s face, hands covered in gold eyeshadow, was posted on the official Kylie Cosmetics Instagram account to promote her new Christmas collection.
And well… look at this photo of Vlada’s from September:
Vlada shared a side-by-side comparison of the two images showing clear similarities, and asked:
Haven’t you gotten enough ‘inspiration’ from me already? Left is the work [photographer] @juliakuzmenko, [model] @brittrafruson and I shot a few months ago and right is Kylie Cosmetics’ new campaign.
Well Kylie? What do you have to say for yourself?
