Lady Gaga professes undying love... for Jameson
LADY GAGA told Dublin’s O2 arena on Tuesday night that she had fallen in love with a man with Irish connections.
Sadly, for the 14,000-strong crowd attending the first of her two shows in Dublin, the man she was talking about would have turned 260 earlier this month: she was referring to Scotsman John Jameson, the founder of the Jameson Distillery, having come to adore his famous Irish whiskey.
Gaga – who had last week had to call off shows in Paris as a result of the strikes crippling the country – dedicated a song to “my longtime boyfriend Jameson” (the man), who was “always there for me when I need him”.
“When the show is over,” she told the crowd, “the glass is always half-full” – before launching into her song ‘Speechless’.
After Tuesday’s show, Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – then showed up at the Old Jameson Distillery in Smithfield with 15 people in tow including her alleged actual boyfriend, partying the night away at the distillery while having photographs taken alongside portraits of Jameson himself.
A Jameson staff member told TheJournal.ie that the group stayed for well over an hour, while Gaga had her manager take photos of the group as a memento of her visit.
The guest was presented with a bottle of Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve – retail price a mere €400 – as a memento to help her forget it as she headed back to her luxury suite at the Four Seasons hotel in Ballsbridge.
