People are sending lovely well-wishes to one of the original Ladybird illustrators
LADYBIRD BOOKS HOLD a special place in many Irish lives.

Today, collector Helen Day, who tweets about the old Ladybird Books, posted a message about one of the original illustrators, Martin Aitchison.

She explains that 97-year-old Martin is sick and has been in hospital, with a request for any old fans to send him a message of support.
Martin, from Birmingham, illustrated the books from 1963 to 1990, and got into drawing as he was deaf and excluded from active service.
The lovely messages left by Ladybird fans go to show how much the books meant to them
Many took the opportunity to say thanks for the memories
