"Lastóir agat?" New sticker campaign hopes to help you learn (rude) Irish on the loo

Now you can ask for a selfie, in Irish.

COISTE FOCAL NUA wants to get you talking Irish, even when you’re out on the lash. The organisation, that updates Irish for the modern ‘vajazzle generation’ have started up the campaign to get people talking Irish in pubs and clubs.

According to Irish culture magazine Nós, the campaign will see stickers of a list of useful Irish phrases appear in the jacks, and will include relevant phrases for punters to use when they get back to the bar… and later in the night… and even later in the night.

The #LearnOnTheLoo campaign aims to get people using a cupla focal in the social environment, and have modelled the stickers around a typical conversation between two pub-goers. All totally usual phrases.

They say they have to ‘get creative’ if they’re going to encourage Irish speakers and are very pleased with the feedback they’ve received so far. They’ve already stuck up 100 in Dublin, with plans to expand to Belfast and Galway, according to Nós. Stickers have even been spotted as far as London.

You can buy them for your pub in packs of 50 by contacting coistenabhfocal [at] gmail.com for €5 euro. They’re basically a necessity.
