FRIGHTENINGLY, WE’RE ALREADY halfway through August.
That means it’s time for two stressful things.
The first is that Brown Thomas and other department stores will start opening Christmas shops.
The second is that Leaving Cert students across the country have to go back to their schools and finally find out how they did in their exams.
Before we proceed, it’s important to remember that it’s pretty invalidating of people’s feelings to say things like “it doesn’t matter what results you get”
There are people who have worked very hard all year and unfortunately end up disappointed with themselves. It’s a shit feeling, and no reassurance that results don’t matter is going to make anyone feel less upset today.
Then there are people who are delighted with themselves and want to celebrate. They don’t want to be told that the grades they got don’t matter either.
Let people have their feelings.
Unless of course, you’re making a valid criticism of capitalism.
And remember: don’t be that person who asks others what they got.
Now, to the tweets.
1. LC results are being collected in a very typically Irish fashion in Raphoe, Donegal:
2. It’s good to keep your sense of humour on a day like today.
3. In about a month, it’ll no longer be a topic of conversation.

6. This A-ha GIF is accompanied by a heartwarming reminder:
7. We’ve already seen the end of the world, so no need to worry about the results ending everything for you.
8. Sometimes photos can say more than words.
9. Everyone cheers on the smug kids who studied all year, but can we give a round of applause to the procrastinators that got what they want?
10. Never forget that there always plenty of alternative routes into jobs.
11. Don’t feel bad, because most successful people are only there because of their parents.
