SUMMER CAN BE a hard ol’ time of year if you’re a leg.
Think about it – you’re trapped within a near militant regimen, consisting of a constant cycle of exfoliating, shaving and tanning.
The constant aggravation can leave your legs looking a bit worse for wear over time. I reached out on Instagram to see what people recommended for saving scoured pins in a jiffy, and these were the top faves:
1. Silcock’s Base (€3.25)
Silcocks base is unscented and is used in hospitals so you know it’s safe for sensitive skin.
I have REALLY sensitive skin so I always use Silcocks Base as a moisturiser for face and body. My skin is insanely soft with it and it’s so gentle too.”
I swear by it – I bring it from home to London because it’s not licenced there. Well worth it!”
2. E45 Cream (€4.95)
E4A is a good medical grade moisturiser that calms irritated skin, its really good.”
3. Bioderma Atoderm Ultra-Nourishing Anti-Irritation Shower Oil (€15.50)
My legs were in a state after lots of scrubbing and fake tan. This totally calms our skin. A HUGE bottle is like €16 and lasts forever.”
4. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Yoghurt Body Wash Apricot and Honey (€4)
This much better than the mawky, oat smelling one – it’s amazing and not irritating at all.”
5. Veet Hair Removal Cream for Sensitive Skin (€6)
No matter what I used, my legs were red and painful and rashy, before putting it down to shaving. I tried everything, different razors, different water temperature … Nothing worked.
Now I use hair removal cream and it’s way better.”
6. Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm (€11.49)
This is the only thing that I’ve used that has addressed the texture of the skin on my legs, which I’ve put down to a build up of keratin. This MASSIVELY reduced all the bumps I get from shaving from the first use.”
7. Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula lotion (€8)
This is the only thing I use now!”
8. Amlactin ($22.11)
I have kerastasis pilaris and I’ve found that this really helps. You can get it on Amazon.”
9. L’Occitane Concentre de Lait (€46)
10. Aloe vera gel
Everyone needs to get a bottle, pop it in the fridge, and thank me later.”
11. Ovelle Aqueous Cream (€3.05)
This is so cheap but works so well for me! I don’t need to use anything else with this.”
12. The most highly recommended? Good ol’ fashioned coconut oil.
I know it’s cliché, but coconut oil is such a cure-all for skin stuff, especially on my legs!”
