SO, IN CASE anyone needs a reminder, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris were once an item.

The singer and the Scottish DJ dated from March 2015 to June 2016, and given the media scrutiny they endured their time together, it was no real surprise that when they eventually decided to part ways, the press and public fell upon the break-up with ill-disguised excitement.

The demise of the relationship added yet another chapter to the narrative surrounding Taylor’s love life, and it wasn’t long before both parties were badgered for information into what exactly led to their split.

And, as far as Lena Dunham is concerned, this is where Calvin fell a little short.

Lena, who is a friend of Taylor, appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week and was pressed for information in the show’s Plead the Fifth segment.

In a pretty awkward moment, the Girls creator was asked to reflect on her friend’s ex-partners by surprise guest Andrew Rannells, who played Elijah on Girls.

“Who has been your least favourite of Taylor Swift’s boyfriends?” he asked Lena.

At this point, Andy interjected, pointing out that Lena was sitting beside Maggie Gyllenhaal whose brother also dated the singer.

I will point out, of course, that you are seated next to the sister of one of Taylor Swift’s former boyfriends so choose your gentleman carefully.

Luckily for all present, it seemed Lena had no intention of mentioning Jake Gyllenhaal, instead turning her attention to ol’ Calvin.

My least favourites of Taylor’s boyfriends, and I want to do right by her on this question and I’m also proud because I haven’t pleaded  the 5th on any of these and I think that makes me some kind of champion, my least favourite was Calvin Harris.

And why was that, Lena?

I felt he was petty in public and who needs to do that?
