Horrifying video shows lift malfunction that sent man up 30 floors in 15 seconds
ARE YOU a little bit afraid of lifts? Then you won’t enjoy this CCTV footage.
The video, from an apartment building in Providencia, Chile, shows a man getting into a lift and pressing the button for his floor.
The lift then shoots upwards uncontrollably, the doors open while it is still moving, and it travels 30 floors in just 15 seconds before slamming at top speed into the roof of the building.
The man in the video, named by Chilean media as José Vergara Acevedo, survived the accident but is being treated in hospital for head and leg injuries, BioBioChile reports.
(NB: The fear of lifts apparently has no special ‘phobia’ name. Isn’t it time someone rectified this?)
