Lily Allen had the perfect clapback for that tired old 'famous dad' put-down
IN CASE YOU didn’t know, Lily Allen’s father is also in the entertainment industry.

Keith Allen is an actor, a TV presenter, and was once a member of a punk band in the late 1970s.
With a father so heavily involved in the arts for the guts of 40 years, it’s hardly surprising Lily inherited his penchant for performing, and at the age of 21 endeavoured to carve out a career for herself in the music industry.
Leveraging the power of social media back in the early noughties, Lily, who went on to win multiple Ivor Novellas, promoted her songs on MySpace, and personally packaged and sent CDs to any followers who expressed an interest in getting their hands on one.
It doesn’t exactly sound like the fast track to superstardom, and yet the 33-year-old is still forced to defend herself against those who believe her father’s acting career had something to do with her musical success.
With three hugely successful albums under her belt and the fourth set for release on June 8th, Lily’s accomplishments simply cannot be placed at the feet of her father – something some members of the public simply refuse to accept.
Yesterday, a Twitter user commented on Lily’a recent appearance on Later with Jools Holland, writing:
And Lily rebuttal was absolutely top-class.
And Twitter is here for it.
With many revealing they had never heard of Lily’s father and others deriding the initial commentator for his assessment of Lily’s impact on the music industry over the last 12 years, It’s fair to say Lily took this one.
